Firm Overview

Established in 1935, O’Donoghue & O’Donoghue LLP is one of the oldest and largest union-side law firms in the United States. With offices in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Annapolis, Maryland, our attorneys provide comprehensive legal representation to labor unions and their collectively-bargained employee benefit plans on a local, regional and national basis.

Our attorneys are well-versed in the laws important to unions, employee benefit funds and workers. These laws include labor laws, such as the National Labor Relations Act, the Labor Management Relations Act (Taft-Hartley), the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure (Landrum-Griffin) Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Davis-Bacon and Service Contract Acts. In addition, they include laws governing employee benefits, such as the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Affordable Care Act, the Pension Protection Act, and the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act.

The Firm has had the great privilege to serve as counsel, on a regular basis and for special projects, to a broad spectrum of labor unions that fight for working families throughout the United States.

Over the years, the cause of the Firm has been that of asbestos workers, broadcast technicians, communications workers, electrical workers, emergency medical technicians, federal government employees, ironworkers, judges, letter carriers, machinists, pilots, plumbers, pipefitters, pressmen, stagehands, teachers, teamsters, welders—and many more.

The Firm is also a national leader in employee benefits law. During the 1950s, the Firm helped to establish some of the first jointly-administered employee benefit plans in the U.S. construction and printing industries. Today, we represent national, regional and local employee benefit plans covering a wide range of industries and pools of participants ranging from fewer than 100 to over 100,000.
